The Making of Buford the Bassigator
A Feature Attraction at the Abita Mystery House
in Abita Springs, Louisiana

Buford the bassigator was created by Dave Kelsey and Joh Preble

Buford was built by Dave Kelsey and John Preble.  A real alligator head and bass were first carefully measured.  The boat trailer was measured and a size/ratio was determined.

Three thick plywood triangles were first attached to the old boat trailer.  These triangles were then braced by a horizontal 8' 2x4 back bone.  Next, plywood donuts were carefully measured and cut.  The donuts were then attached to the triangles.  Wooden lath strips are nailed to the edges of the plywood donuts.  The 1/4" plywood fins and tail are made from wood scraps.
