Ideas for the Bicycle Festival. When inquiring about their prices
- tell them you are coming to the festival. Some of the accommodations
have discounts for festival participants.
Also
we have had reports that Priceline.com has given some really
cheap rooms recently.
There is
a small vintage roadside motel that still keeps nice rooms outside
of Covington. It is the Green Springs Motel, the phone number
is (not toll free) 895-892-4686. It is about the same distance
from the chain motels.

The Abita
B&B is about 3 miles away; the guys who run this place
are fans of the UCM. They have a swimming pool and lots of trees.
Also in
Mandeville, about 11 miles away, is the guest house Marvilla.
It is about 600 feet from Lake Ponchartrain. The guy who runs
this place is a real big fan of the UCM - plus he is my brother-in-law.
He has groovy kayaks that he allows guest to use in the lake.
He has kayaks and bicycle available for his guests at no extra
charge!
About 12
miles away is Fontainebleau
State Park. This is a large park on the lake with lots of
camping sites.
